Fashion Scoop: Mane Addicts Calls Bantu Knots ‘Mini Buns’, Gets Slammed on Social Media, Honor To Close Ready To Wear, and Cher Is The New Face Of Marc Jacobs
- In a post that’s already been taken down — because that’s what you
do when you make a mistake — Mane Addicts identified the hairstyle worn
by models in the Marc Jacobs Spring 2015 show as “twisted mini buns.”
It’s a funny name to not only us here at TFB but also apparently to
everyone on social media who took time out of their days to drag the
site for not calling the style what it was: African bantu knots. A
staffer for the site issued a customary, “whoops,” message on social
media and has since pulled the story. Sadly, some have taken the Marc
Jacobs brand to task about it in their Instagram comments through the
brand had nothing to do with it. (The Fashion Spot)
- While we’re talking beauty, you may have noticed in my recent splurge posting
that in addition to showing off her abs, Jenny from the Block showed
off a new cut. A few layers added and less weight for the summer heat?
Totally here for it! (Glamour)
- Though i love their presentations, it seems that all is not well
over at Honor. The brand has announced that they will be shifting focus
and are in the process putting their ready to wear collection on hiatus.
Instead, they will double down on bridal efforts and special orders,
with the hope of getting back into RTW in the future. (Fashionista)
- Another brand having trouble on social media: Lilly Pulitzer. Though
they had some problems surrounding their launch with Target, the brand
came under some intense flak for a poster in the background of photos
from a New York Magazine tour of their offices. The posters surround a
placard that says “I’m Just Saying” but themselves state things like “Put it down carb face” and “Just another day of fat, white and hideous.” This fat-shaming was not taken lightly by the internet. (StyleBlazer)
- Marc Jacobs has cast another “woman of a certain age” to
front advertisements for his brand and to that we say hoorah! The iconic
Cher appears as the first face of the campaign, and debuted this
morning on Instagram, but according to Jacobs “this is just the beginning!” We can’t wait for the rest. (Fashionista)
