Dressing Like Kim Kardashian for a Week Gave This Elle Editor a ''Boost of Confidence''—but Those Clothes Are Tight!

Lived Like Kim Kardashian for a Week
Kim Kardashian's life isn't all paparazzi and lavish luxuries. Well, yes it is, but it's also squeezing into tight and sometimes uncomfortable fashion for the greater good (and by greater good, we mean everyone who enjoys looking at a bunch of designer items they could never afford).
Elle senior editor Sally Holmes wanted to know what it's like to be Kim K. for a week (fair), so she took it upon herself to dress like the E! star for a week to see what it's like, and it turns out she learned one big lesson: "Dressing like @KimKardashian taught me that GF is VERY very brave," Holmes tweeted.
Holmes also explained that the theme of the entire experiment was "tight," especially since she had to do as Kim would do and wear either Spanx or a waist trainer underneath practically anything.
"After squeezing into my suction shorts (please allow 10 extra minutes for pulling waist line past thighs), I put on the green skirt and crop top (crop top! ahhh!) and looked in the mirror," she wrote. "CURVES. EVERYWHERE. Since the skirt is a sample, it's probably two to three sizes too small, so the fit is not just body-conscious, it's body self-conscious."

You know what else it is? Expensive.
We broke down the price tag for almost every piece of the outfits Holmes replicated for her editorial experiment, and just as expected, it's pretty bonkers.
Monday: a.L.C Fall 2015 Olive Pin Skirt, a.L.C Fall 2015 Brown Knit Top (no price for either of these were found, because they're both sold out, but we can probably assume it totals in the slowly-put-that-back range) and Etro sandals ($1,100)
Tuesday: J.Brand jeans ($218), Manolo Blahnik heels ($725)
Wednesday (the most expensive day): APL kicks ($140), APL leggings ($88), APL zip-up ($135), Givenchy lace-up bodysuit ($2,600), leather trousers ($3,310)
Thursday: Gianvito Rossi heels ($1,595, however now on sale for $957)
Friday: American Apparel leggings ($28), Capulet Oversized Survival Jacket ($198)
However, aside from the suffocating under armor, uncomfortable stilettos and outrageous tags, there was one very positive thing that came out of this.
"I certainly made a statement and drew a lot of looks, but clothes don't make a person, and these outfits, even though they, in a backwards kind of way, did give me a certain boost of confidence, didn't fully make me Kim Kardashian. But, I certainly tried...," Holmes wrote.
Girl, you killed it.
