#TBT: Met Gala Gorgeousness Of Years’ Past
Monday marks the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala, an evening dedicated to all that is fashion (and fashionable). Dubbed the Oscars of the East Coast, the Met Gala is a place where celebrities, socialites, and fashion designers mingle about in the best and boldest ensembles. This year’s theme is Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between. “By inviting us to rethink fashion as a site of constant creation, re-creation and hybridity, she [Rei Kawakubo] has defined the aesthetics of our time,” said Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute. Co-hosted by fashion darlings Katy Perry and Pharell Williams, we’re certainly in for a wild night of fashion fun.
But before we devour Monday’s Met mayhem, let’s throw it back to some of our favorite looks of Met Galas’ past.
