Yeezy makes history yet again. Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo has become the first streaming-only album to earn a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.
According to Def Jam, the 22-time Grammy winner earned his platinum certification from the RIAA after TLOP garnered more than 3 billion streams, enough to qualify for one million equivalent album units.https://twitter.com/defjamrecords/status/849342604131147776
The “living album,” which was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammys, has been making waves since its release as a TIDAL exclusive back in February of 2016. Nearly two months after its release, the project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 94,000 equivalent album units. It was the first album to top the Billboard 200 with a majority of its sales attributed to streaming.
