Best of 2014 Winners Circle: Solange Knowles for Fashionista of the Year and Outfit of the Year, Kimye Wins Best Dressed Couple, David Gandy Is My Most Fashionable Male, and More!
Happy Almost 2015!
Over the past few weeks, you guys have voted on your fashionable faves from the past year. Let’s take a look at who slayed the scene for you in each category!
1. Fashionista of the Year & Outfit of the Year: Solange Knowles
2014 has unquestionably been Solange’s year! Though things seemed to err on the slow side in the beginning of the year for the DJ and musician, she closed the the year out with a bang with her white hot marriage to Alan Ferguson and her series of high wattage looks at Miami’s Art Basel.
Sidling up to citrusy hues and stark white, she knows what works for her, and werks it!
Few fashionistas take as many risks, few keep as guessing as much as Mrs. Knowles-Ferguson.
We can’t wait to see what she turns out next!
2. Most Fashionable Man: David Gandy
David Gandy doesn’t have a super strong presence on the blog–he’s been pictured on FBD a total of 8 times!
No matter–Candy Gandy clearly doesn’t need a ton to shine. Those cheekbones, those eyes…whew chile! He barely needs to have clothes on to get our attention.
It was pretty much a landslide. The Dolce & Gabbana poster boy captured a whopping 39% of your votes.
We get it–we’ll definitely be giving you more from him in 2015!
3. Best Dressed Couple: Kimye
Newlyweds Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye West embody the phrase, “The couple that slays together, stays together!”
Under the creative direction of Mr. West (we presume) the twosome have managed to make minimalism the move, pairing everything down to neutral tones, and focusing on impeccable tailoring and high quality fabrics.
Their slayage was hard to ignore. Vogue’s notoriously elitist bastions opened their hallowed pages, splashing the couple on their cover (dubbing them World’s Most Talked about Couple). The spread, photographed by Annie Leibovitz, and their subsequent marriage, recorded by Andre Leon Talley, was a high fashion extravaganza. Valentino, Balmain, Margiela, Givenchy. It was all fashion, all the time for those two!
With a Balmain campaign to close out the year, it begs the question: What will they do next? Will Kanye launch another clothing line? Will they front more campaigns for fashion houses? Only time will tell!
4. Most Improved Fashionista: Nicki Minaj
Gone is the wild, crazy hair and puff ball adorned ‘fits. The New Nicki Minaj is gorgeous, sleek, and indisputably chic.
Slick black hair accompanied looks by Alexander Wang, Tommy Hilfiger, Valentino, and more.
Nicki went from wild and wacky to demure and subdued. Hopefully 2015 will see her stepping out in runway, artsy pieces, and unexpected yet flattering looks.
7. Designer of the Year: Michael Costello
Yes, the Project Runway runner up has definitely made his work known on the red carpet this year. Outfitting everyone from Kim Kardashian and co to Nene Leakes, Adrienne Bailon, and Beyonce, 2014 has arguably been Costello’s best year ever.
It’s hard to go to an award show without seeing at least 3 Fashion Bomb celebs flaunting their form in a semi scandalous Costello gown.
Though some on Instagram poo poo’ed his inclusion alongside Oscar de la Renta and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, Costello has definitely eeked out his place in the industry.
After having his first fashion show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week last season, he is certainly on an upward trajectory. Is he a one trick pony or can he turn it out? It remains to be seen!
8. Model of the Year: Naomi Campbell
Yes, we all shall BOW DOWN to the inimitable Queen Mother Naomi Campbell. An original supermodel, the Jamaican British Bombshell puts her contemporaries to shame with her razor sharp cheekbones, almond shaped eyes, and impossibly lithe figure.
With over a 20 year run in the notoriously fickle fashion industry, that Naomi reign just won’t let up!
While her staying power is undeniable, we’re ready for Naomi to capitalize off her notoriety. Products, perfume, makeup, and more–her possibilities are endless!
Here’s to continued success and affluence to all our winners and to you!
2015 is our year. Let’s get it!
Fashionably of course;)
Until next year…
Smootches!
*Excuse the ghetto main graphic. I’ll update with a fresh, clean one for Friday (hopefully! Or sooner! Happy New Year!).
