Take it or Leave it? Top Trends of 2014.
I admittedly steered clear of all shopping frenzies this weekend! My patience for the crowds has long vanished and I’ve grown super fond of (in love with) online shopping.
Nevertheless, let’s cut to the chase. The time has come to express how we really feel about all those trends that we saw time after time in 2014! Which looks will be ringing in the New Year with us and which should be banned from 2015?!
1. Crop Tops & Midi Pencil Skirt Duo
The crop tops followed us from 2013 (and years before!) into 2014, but partnered up with the midi pencil skirt this time around. The duo was truly rocked by everyone, everywhere! It was certainly easy to style this look for any event, day or night.
Though I think she will definitely qualify for more than one category, Kim Kardashian was without a doubt the ambassador for the crop top midi skirt combination this year.
Something tells me that as much some may want to do away with it for good, it’s not ready to let go just yet. I’m foreseeing some slight variations to the look in 2015!
2. Monochrome
The crop top and pencil skirt combo leads me directly to its first cousin: the monochrome trend. Year round white? All black everything? Yes! Black and white, you’ll never go out of style in my eyes.
This year was all about white hues! Celebs bravely rocked white from head to toe into winter.
I’m here for the winter whites! Though trying to stay looking crisp and clean can be disastrous! There’s always the all military green, camel hue, baby blue or red options too!
Are you over the monochrome look yet?
3. Pastel Hair
The mermaid hair has been a huge hit in 2014. The look inspired endless car selfies!
The lustrous and colorful locks scream one thing to me: high maintenance. Ok, and a little bit of high school.
Regardless, some have really pulled off the youthful look! I do love it on Nicole Richie but I see the trend fading out soon. Do you think it should stick around for 2015?
4. Sheer Gowns
At least one sheer gown was on the red carpet for each event in 2014. Between strategically sewn florals and delicate fabric showing just enough to please the eye, sheer gowns were this year’s go-to look.
The look really is versatile and can be way less racy, as Zendaya Coleman demonstrated at an LA premiere.
Sure, the gowns are sexy but is their time up?
5. High Fashion Sneakers
Sneakers are clearly here to stay. However, in 2014 we saw a boom in high fashion sneakers and widely sought after collaborations – Riccardo Tisci’s Air Force 1 collabo with Nike being top on the list. Celebs took to Instagram to straight flex what they were able to get their hands on!
We saw designer sneakers on the runways and on the feet of every celeb.
I get it, everyone is allowed casual days… but in sneakers that cost well over $1,000?!
I love me some shoes but I’m completely over the hype and competition around copping a pair of average sneakers! Are you?
And that does it! What trends are you taking into 2015? And which deserve to be left behind? This should be good…
