It has been less than a year since Michael Herz has taken his seat at the creative helm of the Diane von Furstenberg brand, but it’s clear he is already more than well-versed in the DVF method. From the Journey Of A Dress exhibition celebration of the brand’s 40th anniversary to now, nothing has been more evident than his appreciation for its way of doing things and he had no trouble maneuvering around the DVF way with ease for the Pre-Fall 2015 collection.

The designs offset a street-wise and functional freshness with DVF’s signature femininity by way of tie-waist tops with easy trousers, a leopard print fur-lined printed parka layered over a colorful patterned maxi dress, a collarless zip-front bomber jacket and matching skirt in the same aforementioned feral print, and python shoulder bags for a taste of the exotic.

The season is a tricky one as designers must figure out a way to create pieces that can be worn during the balmy months of Summer through to the time of year when the temperatures begin to drop. The offerings also need to fit the bill whether beach side or stomping the mean streets of the concrete jungle — no easy feat as you can imagine. DVF chose to be inspired by festival-ready ‘fits that included breezy frocks, sultry illusion-bodice maxi numbers, a button-front lace top with denim trim, a long-sleeve mini dress in the same mixed textures, and a high-rise tie-waist denim skirt that would pair perfectly with a crop top or white t-shirt.

The classic silk jersey wrap dress came in a myriad of prints and palettes including a boho chic floral pattern, an artful geometric arrangement, a vacation-ready hibiscus print, and more. Knee-high leather boots anchored the looks with polish and poise.

Though the collection didn’t drop any jaws like the brand’s runway collections normally do, that isn’t really the point of Pre-Fall. DVF did in fact deliver on what matters most for the season which is wearable, transitional clothing that women the world over will buy in an effort to add some panache and stylishly versatile pieces into their wardrobes.
