Fashion Scoop: Dior Releases Full Rihanna Campaign Video, Joan Smalls Channels Pharrell For CFDA, Band Of Outsiders To Close?,
With the CFDA Awards next month, the CFDA already has shot and begun
to lay out a hardback journal to go along with this year’s festivities.
Shot by Barnaby Roper, the shoot features honorees and nominees like
Public School’s Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne, Tom Ford, Jack
Mccullough and Lazaro Hernandez from Proenza Schouler and others. The
only person who couldn’t make the shoot was Pharrell, for whom model
Joan Smalls stood in for. “Joan really became Pharrell. It was
amazing. I loved the idea of bringing in someone like Joan, who is at
the height of fashion and who has such sophistication,” said Trey Laird who spearheaded the project. “He hasn’t seen it yet. I don’t even know that he knows about it. ” (Details)
You may have heard that Anna Wintour was called in to bring some
glamour to the Tony Awards. The latest reports say that not all involved
are happy about it. Apparently some of the veterans of the event want
things to stay the way they were and aren’t looking forward to Wintour’s
“multiyear strategy” to bring the event to the same relevancy as the Emmys, Oscars and other awards shows. (Page Six)
It’s finally here. When Rihanna was announced as the face of Dior,
it was a big deal because she’s the first person of color to pose as a
face of the brand in history. Now, the brand has released the much
anticipated Steven Klein lensed short film featuring the pop singer and a
clip of a new song by her. Take a look all of the luxurious excess
running through the Palace of Versailles in the above video.
If you’re wondering where Brandy Norwood has been lately, it’s on
Broadway. The Grammy Award winner is reprising the role of Roxie Hart
in the famed Chicago production that ends June 21st. Even with her
hectic schedule though, the straitlaced beauty in a recent interview
calling out the beauty blender, Giorgio Armani Lip Gloss, Tom Ford
Foundation and Moroccan Oil as must-haves. (StyleBlazer)
If the pervasive rumors are to be believed, there are some major
changes going on at Band of Outsiders. Industry insiders are saying that
the company is basically closing, having laid off it’s entire staff and
cancelled all fall orders. While there’s been no official word, and the
store in SoHo is still open, reports seem fairly certain. This is
definitely a brand to pour one out for(right before you buy everything
when they mark it all down) if these reports are true. (Fashionista)
