True story: As I write this post, the catchy tune “Hot Stuff” is playing over and over in my head, call me crazy but, I just can’t get enough of The Queen of Disco!
Anywho, back to our regularly schedule programming! I’ve been a fan
of this Vintage Vision for as long as I can remember. From her
gargantuan hair to those tantalizing eyes, this songstress definitely
tops my list as one if the greatest style icons of the 1970s. Now,
please, join me as we enter the awesomeness that is the incomparable Donna Summer.
Donna Summer was born LaDonna Adrian Gaines on December 31,
1948 in Boston, Massachusetts. As a child, the young talent was actively
involved with the local church choir while utilizing her gift of song –
little did she know, the subtle progress that would ensue would soon be
her claim to fame. With a string of hits like “Love to Love You Baby“, “Last Dance” and “I Feel Love“,
her music soon garnered an unstoppable following. The Rock & Roll
Hall of Famer consistently ruled the Billboard Hot 200 while proving to
the world that an industrious work ethic always pays . Summer
collaborated with some of music’s greatest heavyweights including Quincy
Jones and Giorgio Moroder while aiding in uplifting a new genre of
music; however, it was her ever-changing style that captivated the
hearts of fashion enthusiasts everywhere.
Summer’s style was nothing short of lavishly fun. I mean, the woman
could rock a sequin dress like no other! It was no secret that this
beautiful siren dominated every fashion spectrum imaginable – her
versatility set her apart as a well-revered legend. With a knack for
styling the most extravagant furs to rocking some of the most intense
pairs of oversized sunnies, this style maven’s execution was always
immaculate. In addition to her showstopping performance ensembles, Miss
Donna also serves as a pillar of personal inspiration to some of today’s
hottest style stars including Fashion Bomb favorite, Solange. Her
timeless yet flashy combinations coupled with an undeniable charisma has
solidified her status as a sartorial pioneer.
Pretty foxy lady, huh? I believe the most memorable feature within
Donna Summer’s style was her fearlessness. She was never afraid to try
new looks nor did she shy away from starting some of the 70s biggest
trends. Simply stunning!
Believe me, her accomplishments and achievements surpass everything
you could possibly imagine! She’s certainly one to research. Want to
