Fashion Scoop: KimYe And Nori Are Fashion's First Family, Nina Garcia Says Latino Heritage Helped Career, Hood By Air To Stage Third Spring 2015 Presentation.
- Even though there was a brief scuffle when they blurred him out of
their televised wedding special, KimYe and Andre Leon Talley have a
lovey-dovey relationship with one another. The latest show of that
affection: Talley tapping them as the “first fashion family” alongside
daughter North West. In a piece for ‘Zappos Couture,’ the verbose editor
notes the trio’s Paris Fashion Week looks as a crowning moment. What do
you think? Do they deserve the title? (StyleBlazer)

- Stefano Gabbana and Domencio Dolce have been found innocent of the
tax evasion charges brought against them. In their latest and last
appeal to the Cassazione — Italy’s equivalent to the Supreme Court — all
charges were dismissed against the designers on the basis that the
criteria used to find their holding company as a fictitious entity were
flawed. So no prison garb for those two. (The Fashionisto)
- Nina Garcia is one of the most powerful Latina women in the fashion
industry. As the creative director of Marie Claire and a judge on
Project Runway, her influence shapes not only a magazine but also the
careers of emerging designers. Getting her proper start in fashion as an
intern at Perry Ellis, Garcia notes that her “otherness” or Latino
heritage, gives her an advantage to other editors. “I think my
Latino culture has equipped me with a different point of view than the
rest of my counter parts and seeing things from a different perspective
has helped me a lot,” she said. (Huffington Post)
- And for her latest accolade: the UK’s most successful entrepreneur
of 2014. Victoria Beckham has come quite a long way from her Posh Spice
days. For her second act, she has built her fashion business into such a
force that because of the number of jobs she has created, strong sales
and her estimated wealth overall, is being singled out as the most
successful entrepreneur of the year. Kudos! (Telegraph)
- So far, Hood by Air has already hosted two showings for their Spring
2015 show, one in Paris and the other here in New York. And now,
they’ve announced their third and final showing with a surprise twist.
Done in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art, the event will be
open to the public with a ticket price of $25. And while there won’t be
any new pieces on view — expect wares from the other two components —
Shayne Oliver has performers like Boychild and Mykki Blanco lined up as
well as some sort of “humannequin” installation. The show is Thursday. (Fashionista)
