Fashion Scoop: Fern Mallis To Interview Valentino at the 92nd Y, Peter Copping To Leave Nina Ricci, and Liu Wen Is The Face Of Apple Watch?

  • Legendary designer Valentino Garavani is set to be the focus of a public Fern Mallis interview next month. The interview will be a part of Mallis’s 92Y chat series and will coordinate with the release of his book “Valentino: At the Emperor’s Table.” Topics will span the gamut from the new book’s focus(entertaining) to the state of haute couture and celebrity designers. • Looks like fashion is getting outpaced a bit when it comes to pulling in the dough. For this year’s Forbes 400 brands like Michael Kors, Tory Burch and Max Azria are no where to be found. But as for the few fashion folk who did make the list, look to Bruce Nordstrom (take a wild guess at which retailer is his) and Ralph Lauren as well as the Fisher family of Gap and Richard Hayne of Urban Outfitters. • Who’s ready for a mini-round of designer musical chairs? Today, Peter Copping set it all in motion by officially announcing he was parting ways with Nina Ricci, many suspect to take a design role at Oscar de la Renta. And for a designer so noted, it’s unlikely that it’ll be somewhere back in the doldrums. And for his successor? Many are looking to Guillaume Henry, who also announced that he’d be leaving Carven this week. Who’s up next? (Fashionista)
Liu Wen Met Gala 2014
  • As Apple Watch continually courts the fashion industry (they just did a launch at hip store Collette in Paris) the brand might have tapped Liu Wen as the face of the new wrist piece. While all we have now is a cryptic Instagram caption so far, since the accessory is due out in a few months, the ad campaign isn’t far off. (Racked)
