Fashion Scoop: A.P.C. Designer Uses N-word Repeatedly in Presentation, Kim Kardashian Has A New Commercial About Selfies, and Victoria Secret Swim Show Coming This February.
- “I call this one look Last Ni**as in Paris. Why? Because it’s
the sweet spot when the hood –the ‘hood– meets Bertolucci’s movie Last
Tango in Paris. So that’s ‘Ni**as in Paris’ and Last Ni**as in Paris.
[Nervous laughter from audience.] Oh, I am glad some people laughed with
me. Yes, I mean, it’s nice to play with the strong signifiers. The
Timberland here is a very strong ghetto signifier. In the ghetto, it is
all the Timberlands, all the big chain. Not at the same time—never; it’s
bad taste. So we designed Timberlands with Timberland…” We felt it
best to present that statement uninterrupted and allow you to draw your
own conclusions. It was made by Jean Touitou of A.P.C. who said that
inspiration for the name stemmed from a partnership (and blessing) with
Kanye West. (Complex)

- To beat a dead horse: another reason the mani-cam is pretty
pointless right now: the nail art trend was short lived. Analysts are
saying that nail polish sales are down 10 percent (we do tend to see a
lot of nudes for those who choose to flaunt their glossy tips). This
stat comes in contrast to other color cosmetics sales which are on the
rise. Lip color sales rose 13 percent while brow products — you can
thank Cara Delevingne probably– grew 34 percent. (Fashionista)
- And for her next feat, Kim Kardashian has landed herself a new ad
campaign. And while this one isn’t fashion per se, it does speak so much
to the Kim Kardashian that we’ve come to know and… live with. The
reality television star is fronting a new T Mobile ad that will air
during the Super Bowl. In it, she encourages viewers not to waste their
data by getting into plans that don’t allow unused data to roll over. Go
with T-Mobile and roll that data over every month to do important
things like look at all of Kim’s selfies. (The Cut)
- Get ready for more Victoria’s Secret! On February 26th, which is the
second day of Milan Fashion Week, the Angels will swap out their
lingerie for swim suits in the brand’s first Swim Special. No word yet
on how big of a to-do it will be but you can watch it all on CBS. (Twitter)

- One thing you can always say about Naomi Campbell is that you know
what she thinks. The latest topic she’s turned her attention to happens
to be “Insta-girls” or today’s supermodels. When asked about them her
response was cute but the sound bite was the true gem. In a nutshell: “Easy come, easy go.” (Lucky)
