The twitterverse was up in arms this weekend over the perceived slight
of Miss Jamaica, Kaci Fennell, who many thought deserved the Miss
Universe crown. Equipped with an unorthodox short cut (versus the
voluminous locks of typical contestants) and an absolutely gorgeous
visage, Ms. Fennell was a fan favorite because of her intelligence and
gumption (apparently she named Bob Marley and Usain Bolt as Jamaica’s
greatest contributions to the world). The hashtag
#MissJamaicaShouldHaveWon quickly materialized; she certainly was the people’s choice, but Miss Colombia, Paulina Vega, ultimately took the crown. (

- Though i already announced that Cara Delevingne was going to be a
guest editor for LOVE, we weren’t sure what sorts of things she’d take a
swing at. First up for the model/singer/actress is an interview with
Kim Kardashian. We’re expecting it to sit alongside Kim’s 30+ page
spread in the same issue but we’re definitely interested to see what
inquiries Cara had in mind. (The Fashion Spot)

- Pharrell Williams and his hat are about to break new ground, this
time as cartoons. The pop star will appear on the February 8th episode
of The Simpsons named “Walking Big & Tall.” In the show,
Pharrell will be writing a new anthem for the city of Springfield. By
the time he leaves, we’re guessing the whole town will be “Happy.” (The Fader)
- Online retailer Piperlime has been shuttered. Owned by Gap, the
company is the latest in a string of retail closures. According to Gap,
the brand was their smallest. Expect big sales! (Fashionista)
- Let’s just be honest, I for one have never liked the mani-cam. Ever!
I mean I understand that sometimes there’s pretty intricate work that
goes in to the nails and there’s the bling, but I’ve always been a fan
of seeing the whole look in the context of the whole look. Well it
seems that some celebs have hopped on my train–last night at the SAG
Awards, four celebs declined using the niche camera. Jennifer Aniston,
Reese Witherspoon, Tatiana Mislay, and Juliane Moore all gave up pretty
staunch “No’s” when asked whether they would show off their digits, and I
was cheering them along every time! (Refinery29)
