Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2015.
Giambattista Valli never ceases to amaze. In their Couture Spring 2015 presentation, the central focus was placed upon mixing both feminine pieces with those inspired by menswear. The neutral-based pallette of the collection, coupled with its subtle yet dynamic intricacies, validates the fact that Giambattista Valli knows a thing or two about incorporating that extra bit of edgy pizzazz.
True story: It seems Coco Chanel and Janis Joplin were the inspiration behind the Italian fashion powerhouse’s couture compilation. Coco Chanel’s definitive influence can be seen in Valli’s use of her iconic jackets and the classic appeal behind many of the designs. As far as Janis Joplin goes, her quirky layering technique (wearing dresses over pants) is also used a number of times. Talk about combining the best of both worlds!
The embellishments and detailing of this collection were the real MVP! In addition to the continual use of ladylike appeal, Valli was also drawn to floral embroidery, neck/shoulder ruffles, matching sets, chic veils, transparent inserts and sleek silhouettes. All in all, this couture show was nothing short of magical.
I liked this collection! The whimsical designs and their immense detailing definitely won me over. From the funky florals to the vintage-inspired ruffles, Giambattista Valli managed to successfully translate his runway dream into a mind-blowing reality. Many of the pieces presented border along the lines of risky conservatism but the execution is pulled off so effortlessly. How can you not love it?
