Woman Crush Wednesday: Tracee Ellis Ross.
Tracee Ellis Ross has long been one of my favorite stars because of her spunky personality, love for vintage, flawless skin, full lips, impossible-to-miss eyes, and enviable hair. The actress keeps us hooked every week on hit ABC tv show Black-ish, but many of us have given her the role of “girlfriend in our head” for quite some time now because of her portrayal of lawyer Joan Clayton on Girlfriends.
Tracee has an unfair advantage as her mother is icon Diana Ross, which meant that it was almost a shoe-in that her life would be brimming with beauty and decadence. She’s taken her legendary last name and created her own unforgettable identity that keeps us excited for each moves she makes from her red carpet sightings to Instagram posts — the latter is filled with everything from glamour shots to sing-a-long moments with popular rap songs. She’s a riot!
Her Los Angeles upbringing has instilled a cool and easygoing nature in Tracee that is a lethal combination when combined with her fabulous genes, remarkable good looks, and an intrinsic grace that oozes effortlessly from her every pore. Intelligence is also one of her strong suits, having gone to Brown and studied theatre. Tracee gets that killer sense of style not only from her mother, but from her days as a fashion editor at Mirabella and New York Magazine as well.
We all pretty much had an eight year-long friendship with Tracee and Joan Clayton and through it all, they both gave us ideas for beauty, a little home decor, style, and most especially ways to style our larger-than-life natural hair. Tracee’s style is bold — mixed prints, eye-catching colors, and form-fitting silhouettes that flaunt her bodacious curves. She further pulls you in with her beauty choices which most often include head-turning lip colors and dewy skin with a smoky eye every now and then for a bit of va-va-voom.
Confidence is always the best piece you can choose to wear and there’s no doubt that Tracee has loads of it. She knows what works for her and embraces her signatures instead of what’s hot in the market right now: a true sign of a timeless beauty. Her love for vintage is the perfect match for her one-of-a-kind personality.
With awards season upon us and new Black-ish episodes to indulge in, we will definitely have our share of Tracee appearances. She’s a constant reminder that sensuality and humor in a woman work best when they’re paired together and that natural beauty is something that gets better with time when it is embraced and cherished.
Is Tracee Ellis Ross one of your beauty crushes?
