Lola Falana.
With an irresistible talent and jaw-dropping beauty, it’s only right to highlight the chicness that is Miss Lola Falana.
Born (Loletha Elayne Falana) on September 11, 1942, Falana was the product of an industrious family. As a child, the young talent’s father left Cuba to become a welder here in the States where he soon met her mother. Lola spent most of her earlier years as an up-and-coming dancer while also singing in the local church choir. In the mid-1960s, the starlet was discovered by the epic Sammy Davis, Jr. As her career began its ascent, Falana became a key player in Italian cinema; however, in 1970, Lola finally made her American debut in the film The Liberation of L.B. Jones (which resulted in a Golden Globe nomination). She also made appearances on The New Cosby Show, The Joey Bishop Show and The Hollywood Palace. From there, her road to success was in clear view.
Lola’s style was the epitome of daring. This sultry fashionista could rock the best of the best – from in-your-face catsuits to the almighty crop tops – Miss Falana was definitely sartorial eye candy. Aside from her enviable ‘fro, she donned classic yet edgy pieces that are prevalent to this day. From fringe to her signature head adornments, it’s clear that she took risks while staying true to herself. I mean, can we get into this plunging sequin and fur number up top?! Stunning.
