Moschino Fall 2015.
We never have to worry about Jeremy Scott going bold and he did not disappoint with Moschino’s Fall collection. His destination for the season? None other than the Nineties. When channeling the decade, there are quite a lot of fashion references to choose from, but Scott chose hip hop — its bombastic colors, accessories, and all.
The assortment commenced with shocking quilted leather pieces in head-turning colors including cobalt, orange, lime, and yellow. There was an even a backwards overall moment &eaigu; la Kris Kross: not a look that any adult in 2015 should wear, but one that was fun and nostalgic.
The Looney Tunes then made their mark — well the hip hop-inspired iterations of the classic cartoon characters clad in bucket hats, Moschino logo gold chains, bomber jackets, and sneakers. The models were pants-less, save for sneaker-inspired mules.
Scott has a penchant for athletic-inspired wear, thus the lineup then exploded into striped, jersey-influenced pieces with Bugs Bunny, the Tazmanian Devil, and more strewn across the front. Fitted caps and kitschy logo-covered bags accented the ensembles.
Denim was given a spirited spin with pencil skirts featuring button closures and pockets at the top and bottom for a mirrored kind of effect and patchwork overalls, a cropped jacket, and shirt dresses paneled with gold squares. Petite shoulder bags in the textile hung from the models’ hands while gold bustier tops, glossy metallic pumps, quilted hats, and cutesy teddy bear bags injected a sense of whimsy.
No perspiring will be done in the sweat-inspired wares from a cropped short-sleeve sweatshirt that will go down in a modern-day women’s closet as a veritable wardrobe staple (depending on the price) to hooded skirt suits that gave all new and a more feminine twist to the beloved tracksuit.
Evening gowns covered in graffiti and embellishmnet closed the collection, with aerosol spray paint cans doubling as clutches. The mix of what most would consider “low brow” and high-fashion here was striking — sure to make its way to a red carpet or two in a mere matter of weeks.
Thoughts on the latest from Moschino?
