The very best of runway shows take you on a journey. BCBG Max Azria’s Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection magically ran the gamut from provincial bohemian chic to modern warrior princess swagger in the span of 30 looks.
To be perfectly honest, this collection struck me as fascinating – not simply because of the dramatic arch from cozy casual knits to oxblood dipped fringe tops, but because I felt something new, yet familiar in every look. The combination of each element, the overall styling, was critical to the cohesion of such multi-interpretative pieces.
A staple throughout the collection was the oft forgotten turtleneck – oversized in grey wool and navy cotton, ribbed in burnt orange and bright red. Grommets covered the collars, sleeves, neck, and waistlines of dresses, literally keeping the pieces together by a set of white laces.
Accessories of note were the over-the-knee leather boots in camel and black, furry booties, and matching clutches. Some looks didn’t hit the mark for me, including a long-sleeved leather top with turtleneck and lace bib front and a wool patchwork coat that appeared to lack structure.
The true gems were the intricate short/long coats, quilted vests, and an extended bomber jacket in speckled blue fabric and leather. I anticipate we may see a whole slew of imitation outerwear inspired by BCBG Max Azria from high street retailers. You heard it here first folks!
