Show Review: Anthony Vaccarello Spring 2015.

For the second time down the runway, sans Donatella Versace and far from New York City, Anthony Vaccarello presented his Spring 2015 collection at Paris Fashion Week.  Sexy thigh high diagonal slits, asymmetrical draping fabrics and laser-cut plastic monograms hit the catwalk for a collection inspired by ships and sailors.

Lots of leg peeked out under short skirts and dresses paired with jackets and oversized sweaters, sleeves rolled up for added edginess.  Stripes printed on tailored-denim went in different directions.  Belts straps crossed shoulders and waists down past the hemlines of skirts.

Nautical buttons, hooks and grommet-like rings held together miniskirts, lined jacket collars, cuffs, and pant waists.  Models rocked a simple side-part hairstyle and minimal makeup. While it was a maritime theme and one could have predicted nautical accessories, models donned only a pair of strappy heeled sandals.
The diagonal slit instantly says ‘Anthony Vaccarello’.  Though the cut was present on the runway, Vaccarello chose to also brand his collection using a different and more obvious technique for the first time: bold graphic manipulations of his name and the word ‘Spring’.  Each block letter was individually laser-cut and heat-transferred onto the garments.

Sheer blouses and unbuttoned button down shirts were worn alone or under crewnecks, jackets and sleeveless blazers. Tops featured a one-shoulder sleeve that gave off a sporty vibe while slouchy suit pants were cut off right below the knee.

Asymmetrical parts of the skirts appeared detachable as they were lined with buttons and zippers. While some pieces were a bit ill-fitting others draped the models’ figure beautifully.

Aside from the initial denim looks, and one random red printed skirt, the entire collection maintained a black and white color scheme. Overall, one can appreciate that this collection was certainly unique from that of previous seasons .
