Saint Laurent’s Hedi Slimane embraced his signature hippie, rock n roll
vibe for Spring 2015, with a collection that mixed menswear inspiration
with laid back insouciance, uplifted by moments of glamour.
Skin skimming LBDS shared the stage with rockstar status pieces
ranging from turbans to leather mini skirts, from fur chubbies to black
hats.
The collection had a vintage feel with flower printed belted mini
dresses and frayed denim bottoms. You can undoubtedly find dupes of
select items from Saint Laurent’s Spring 2015 collection in your local
second hand store.
But then, Slimane dazzled with intricate beading and multicolored
sequins, playing on cocktail dresses boasting deep decolletage. A sheer
knit shirt with glittering sleeves and sequin covered jackets aptly
displayed Slimane’s dexterous hand.
Out of 56 looks, quite a few stood out to me as red carpet fodder: a
golden sequin dipped halter with a v neck down the navel, paired with
high waisted pants; shimmering silver and gold edged jackets; a cape
coat covered in firework like embellishments; and a high waisted leather
short with a sheer shirt and matching jacket. All of the above will
hopefully find their way onto the backs of tinseltowns young and
sassy–think Rihanna, Cassie, or Cara Delevingne.
For the print lover, cherries, dots, and stars have replaced the lip
print. Though modeled on dresses, I could see this print on pussybow
blouses and flutter sleeve numbers in no time.
What do you think of Saint Laurent’s Spring 2015 collection?
