Show Review: Emilio Pucci Spring 2015.
If there’s one thing that Pucci knows how to serve, its sex. Necklines plunging down to there, hems sliced up to here; Peter Dundas has an intimate knowledge of the most titillating parts of a woman, and decides exactly how much of those parts to reveal each season. This entree of skin often comes served in a bed of 70s flare with fringe, beading and prints as important ingredients, which made this season this season, — be what it has — was the perfect lead up to the show.
On the backs of supermodels like Naomi Campbell(first time walking for the brand) and Joan Smalls as well as a growing crop of notable faces like Malaika Firth, Binx Walton and Kendall Jenner, Dundas showed a lineup that was true to form. For day, looks featured smart separates like a fitted suede blazer, mint sheer blouses and trousers that clung to the thigh before flaring out a little towards the ankle, to make room for those 70s inspirations. Even the flower crowns of the decade cropped up in prints as well as appliqué on a pair of fringe trousers.
Dresses and prints are a mainstay of the brand, so they were hammered home repeatedly. Another option for day was presented, casual and relaxed as a halter-top floor-length frock of orange with white and green vines crawling up the sides, while evening options fluttered with their tie die treatment. Each look was certainly that: a lot of look. And while we aren’t sure it’s the sort of red carpet glam some love from the designer, we have no doubts that we’ll see some of these pieces make a few rounds.
