Jason Wu Ready-to-Wear Fall 2015.
The word that first came to mind when seeing Jason Wu’s Fall 2015 RTW Collection was smart. As designer darling to FLOTUS Michelle Obama herself, Jason Wu knows a thing or two about creating sophisticated, strong pieces for very powerful women. His presentation today served up the best of beauty and brains — having every woman thinking, “with a fur stole around my shoulders, who can stop me now?”
Every ensemble was rather neutral, with the rare red accent piece scattered throughout the line-up. This made sense to me — given Wu’s recent appointment as Artistic Director of Hugo Boss, it felt like he had taken some influence from his other side hustle. He pared down the models in simple yet stunning designs, truly letting the pieces speak for themselves.
Favorite model friend Karlie Kloss sported a deliriously thick fur vest (which frankly would have come in handy in today’s cold weather) while other models rocked fur in oversized scarves, stoles, and even a few lengthy coats. Most pieces were carefully belted in black crocodile leather and the heels took a surprising twist with triangular gold hardware.
Wu’s looks embraced the ease of dressing. How effortless each woman looked with their sateen trousers, high-slit skirts, thin-strapped dresses that fell below the knee, and compact clutches perfect for one’s cell, best lipstick, and mirror. His collection offered solid staples any woman would be happy to find in her wardrobe and every time she pulled one of Wu’s pieces out, she would feel truly powerful.
