Though she makes a living being one of the funniest women on television, this week’s throwback, Tracee Ellis Ross,
definitely takes her fashion seriously. I guess when you’re an
award-winning actress, producer, former model, and the daughter of the
incomparable Diana Ross, having style just may be innate.
A native of Los Angeles, it’s easy to see
why Tracee’s sense of style often skews simple. Slinky frocks and
bandage dresses were her go-to’s during the early 2000’s, i.e. the Girlfriends era, always ensuring she had a fabulous shoe to pair them with.
An advocate for comfort, Tracee’s street
style reflects just that while still staying chic and on trend. From a
leather biker jacket and boots to an all denim look with fierce sandals,
her versatility is bar none, as her desire to switch things up always
keeps us on our toes.
Any style savant knows that beautiful,
dizzying prints can do wonders for an outfit. Tracee clearly has an
undying love for all things patterned, especially separates. Jackets,
skirts, pants, and dresses…you name it! Whether striped or printed with
a myriad of flowers, Tracee brings them to life.
When it comes to red carpet events and
awards shows, Tracee oozes confidence and covert sex appeal. She pulls
out all the stops with gorgeous gowns showcasing plunging necklines and
curve hugging dresses in velvet. Sparkly sequins, tons of tulle, and
even leather have all made their way on best dressed lists, and
rightfully so. From Azzedine Alaïa to Zuhair Murad, we’d say she has
this covered from A to Z.
These fantastic style moments don’t seem to show any signs of slowing down. Considering all the accolades Black-ish is receiving, we won’t be complaining to see more and more of Tracee. So here’s to this week’s throwback. One of the most humorous, intelligent and endearing women in entertainment today, Tracee Ellis Ross, our “Girlfriend” for ever.
